The purpose of the Women’s Ministry at Church of the Lakes is to foster a joyful relationship with God for women of all ages by connecting with one another, exploring God’s story and serving together.
Our Women’s Ministry focuses on four areas: Spiritual, Social, Service, and Support. We look forward to your participation in these groups and activities.
Women’s Bible Study
Daytime: 1:00 – 2:30 pm, room 206
Evening: 6:30 – 8:00 pm, room 105

Starting January 6th– Our Church on the Move: Measures
A seven-week church-wide study to become familiar with the various measures that are indicative to us fulfilling our mission, that can be used as a daily guide.
Starting February 24th– It’s Not Supposed to be This Way
A six-week study about finding unexpected strength when disappointments leave you shattered.
Starting April 20th– Breathe: Making Room for Sabbath
A five-week study hoping if you are worn out, weary, and exhausted, the concept of Sabbath will change your life.
Off-Site Bible Study
Dates: Mondays, beginning January 6th
Time: 9:30 – 11:00 am

Description: This group focuses on studying specific books of the Bible.

Women’s Retreat – Treasures of the Heart
Date: Saturday, April 18th, 2020
Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Place: Dutch Kitchen, Banquet and Events Center in Dalton, OH
Cost: $50- includes all materials and buffet lunch
Description: The Bible talks about the heart being the center of all spiritual activity and all the operations of the human life. Learn to find joy and peace in the journey and trust God to pump hope into your heart by His Word and His Spirit. Speaker will be Deborah Robinson, and worship leader will be Vanessa Mowrer.

Grace and Guts Women’s Conference Featuring Shannon Perry
Date: Saturday, September 12th, 2020

Cost: $20 per person
Description: Shannon Perry offers Biblical guidance along with step by step solutions delivered with her trademark humor, to help women find the courage to deliver the knockout punch to their emotional and spiritual battles.
Walk to Emmaus
Dates: April 23rd – 26th
Place: Camp Wanake, Beach City, Ohio
Description: A spiritual renewal program intended to develop Christian disciples and leaders. On this four-day experience, you will learn more about your faith, deepen your relationship with Jesus and connect with others on the walk. If interested, contact Dawn Crum. Ladies Game Day
Date: Sunday, March 15th
Time: 2:00 – 4:00 pm
Place: May Hall
Description: Back by popular demand: all ladies are invited to join us for a fun, free afternoon of playing games and getting to know one another, and enjoying some light snacks. Friends welcome. Childcare provided if requested in advance. Register by Wednesday, March 11th on the church website, or in the entryway.

Women’s Book Club
Daytime Group: 1st Wednesday of the month, 10:00 – 11:30 am, room 214

Description: Provides an opportunity for Christian women to read books that support spiritual growth and to provide fellowship. Books read include fiction, non-fiction, and biographies and will be discussed from a Christian perspective. Members may join at any time, meets August – May.

Cost: Visit one time for free. Yearly membership fee is $25.
Description: Provides mental and social stimulation and allow an arena for sharing concerns and discussing current issues. Offers opportunities for discussions of substance, speakers/special programs and outings/field trips. For more information click here or email them.

Description: Knit and crochet prayer shawls to be a comfort for those going through trials in life both inside and outside our church. All skill levels are welcome, they can even teach you to knit or crochet and have supplies that you can use. Over 800 shawls have been donated since this ministry started.
Baby Bundles Plus
Dates: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month, September – May
Time: 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Description: Makes baby blankets for needy mothers and church baptisms, stuffed animals for Children’s Services and the Fire/Police Departments and the YWCA Women’s Shelter. Also makes adult lap blankets, comfort rolls and walker caddies for nursing home residents. In addition to ouchie dolls for Akron Children’s Hospital labs and outpatient surgery, and dresses for girls in Africa.
MOPS and MOMSnext
Daytime- 1st & 3rd Wednesdays, 9:15 – 11:15 am
Evening- 1st & 3rd Tuesdays, 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Description: A group for mothers of young children. Being a mom is beautiful and hard. We get that you need a safe space to breathe and a place to get some encouragement that what you are doing matters. Friends are welcome. During the summer, we meet off-site with our children.
P.A.C.T. – Praying for Adult Children Together
Dates: 1st Thursday of every month (will meet on January 9th)
Time: 10:00 am or 6:30 pm
Place: Church, room 214
Leader: Pastor Janet Zimmerman
Description: We come together to pray for our adult children and grandchildren and commit to praying for one another’s requests between gatherings. Prayer concerns shared will remain confidential. Please bring a notebook to record prayer requests. Both women and men are welcome.
Childcare is provided for all groups hosted at the church, if requested beforehand. Scholarships are available if you are unable to afford the fee for a class.
