The purpose of the Women’s Ministry at Church of the Lakes is to foster a joyful relationship with God for women of all ages by connecting with one another, exploring God’s story and serving together.

Our Women’s Ministry focuses on four areas: Spiritual, Social, Service, and Support. We look forward to your participation in these groups and activities.


Bible Studies:
Women’s Bible Study
Dates: Mondays

Starting October 14th- Jesus Among Other Gods
A six-week study of the differences between Christianity and other world religions. Co-taught by Rev. Susan Curtis and Pastor Janet.

The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping the Love Story of Christmas
This four-week study by Ann Voskamp includes daily devotional readings and instructions on how to make a Jesse tree. “The Greatest Gift” is a treasured reminder that it is Christ and Christ alone who endows Christmas with meaning. This study was done several years ago, but is worth repeating.

Off-Site Bible Study
Dates: Mondays, beginning September 9th
Time: 9:30 – 11:00 am

Description: This group focuses on studying specific books of the Bible.

Women’s Retreat
Date: Saturday, April 18th, 2020
Place: Dutch Kitchen in Dalton, OH
Speaker: Deb Robinson – a pastor, a pastor’s wife, a gifted and energetic inspirational speaker and author. Deb is also a former college administrator.

Walk to Emmaus
Dates: October 24th – 27th, 2019 or April 23rd – 26th
Place: Camp Wanake, Beach City, Ohio
Description: A spiritual renewal program intended to develop Christian disciples and leaders. On this four-day experience, you will learn more about your faith, deepen your relationship with Jesus and connect with others on the walk. If interested, contact Dawn Crum. Women’s Book Club
Daytime Group: 1st Wednesday of the month, 10:00 – 11:30 am, room 214

Evening Group: 2nd Tuesday of the month, 6:30 – 8:00 pm, off-site

Description: Provides an opportunity for Christian women to read books that support spiritual growth and to provide fellowship. Books read include fiction, non-fiction, and biographies and will be discussed from a Christian perspective. Members may join at any time, meets August – May.

Widow’s Meet & Eat
Description: Meets the 3rd week of the month at various times and locations for the purpose of fun and fellowship. For more information, contact Pastor Janet or Sue Hoffmeyer.

Golden Girls
Dates: 2nd Tuesday of each month (except January & February)
Time: 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
Place: Church, Cave area (lower level)
Cost: $5
Description: A group of senior ladies enjoy lunch together and hear a guest speaker. RSVP to Laurel Brevoort, 330-575-5127.

Women’s Exchange
Dates: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month, September – May
Time: 9:30 – 11:30 am
Place: Church, room 206
Cost: Visit one time for free. Yearly membership fee is $25.
Description: Provides mental and social stimulation and allow an arena for sharing concerns and discussing current issues. Offers opportunities for discussions of substance, speakers/special programs and outings/field trips. For more information click here or email them.


Prayer Shawl
Dates: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month, September – May
Time: 12:30 – 2:00 pm

Description: Knit and crochet prayer shawls to be a comfort for those going through trials in life both inside and outside our church. All skill levels are welcome, they can even teach you to knit or crochet and have supplies that you can use. Over 800 shawls have been donated since this ministry started.

Baby Bundles Plus
Dates: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month, September – May
Time: 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
Place: Church, room 108

Description: Makes baby blankets for needy mothers, scent dolls for Aultman NICU, adult lap blankets, ouchie dolls for Akron Children’s Hospital labs, dresses for girls in Africa and stuffed animals for Children’s Services and the Fire Departments.


MOPS and MOMSnext
Daytime- 1st & 3rd Wednesdays, 9:15 – 11:15 am
Evening- 1st & 3rd Tuesdays, 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Cost: $31/year registration
Description: A group for mothers of young children. Being a mom is beautiful and hard. We get that you need a safe space to breathe and a place to get some encouragement that what you are doing matters. Friends are welcome. During the summer, we meet off-site with our children.

P.A.C.T. – Praying for Adult Children Together
Dates: 1st Thursday of every month
Time: 10:00 am or 6:30 pm
Place: Church, room 214
Leader: Pastor Janet Zimmerman
Description: We come together to pray for our adult children and grandchildren and commit to praying for one another’s requests between gatherings. Prayer concerns shared will remain confidential. Please bring a notebook to record prayer requests. Both women and men are welcome.

Childcare is provided for all groups hosted at the church, if requested beforehand. Scholarships are available if you are unable to afford the fee for a class.
