The purpose of the Women’s Ministry at Church of the Lakes is to foster a joyful relationship with God for women of all ages by encouraging spiritual growth, serving God, and supporting one another.

Our Women’s Ministry focuses on four areas: Spiritual, Social, Service, and Support. We look forward to your participation in these groups and activities.

Spiritual

Bible Studies:
Gideon: Your Weakness – God’s Strength
Dates: Mondays, September 11th – October 23rd

Description: Ever feel insufficient? Could it be that your weaknesses are the keys that unlock God’s strength? Through a look at the life of Gideon, you can discover that instead of ignoring, neglecting, or trying to escape your weaknesses, you can see them as the gifts, given specifically and strategically by God to unlock the door of God’s strength.

Walk to Emmaus
Dates: October 26th – 29th or April 19th – 22nd
Place: Camp Wanake, Beach City, Ohio
Description: A spiritual renewal program intended to develop Christian disciples and leaders. On this four-day experience, you will learn more about your faith, deepen your relationship with Jesus and connect with others on the walk. Blanket Making Social

Description: Join with others as we socialize while tying together large pieces of felt into blankets that will be given to a mission organization. Light refreshments will be served. Please bring scissors.

New York City Bus Trip
Dates: Friday, July 13th – Sunday, July 15th
Departure: Malone University
Cost: Depends on how many in a room (can have 1-4 persons per room). Two persons in a room is $835 each. Payments are spread out from now until May.
Description: Trip includes transportation, lodging, some meals, two Broadway shows, and admission to sites. To register, go to www.etadventures.com and log in using trip code: malone 18 and password: nyctrip18. Open to families. It is recommended that children be at least 12 years old. Reservations are due by October 1st.

Golden Girls
Dates: 2nd Tuesday of each month (except January)

Women’s Exchange
Dates: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month, September – May
Time: 9:30 – 11:30 am

Cost: Visit one time for free. Yearly membership fee is $25.
Description: A group to help provide mental and social stimulation and allow an arena for sharing concerns and discussing current issues. They offer opportunities for discussions of substance, speakers/special programs and outings/field trips.

REFIT® Fitness Group
Date: Saturday, September 16th – FREE trial
Time: 9:30 – 10:30 am
Place: Church, Activity Center
Description: REFIT® is a cardio dance program that engages the whole person: body, mind, and soul. In this hour-long fitness class, participants will find easy to learn movements, inspiring music, and a family-friendly environment for all ages. Open to women, men, youth and children. This group will continue if there is sufficient interest.

Childcare Outreach
Dates: Saturdays, October 7th, November 4th and December 2nd

Description: Assist with the care of children from the Church of the Lakes Childcare Center so their parents can have opportunity to run errands or have some time to themselves. Many of the families of our of childcare center have no church connection, and some are single parents. Help show Jesus’ love to these parents and their children.

Prayer Shawl
Dates: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month, September – May

Description: Knits and crochets prayer shawls to be a comfort for those going through trials in life both inside and outside our church. All skill levels are welcome, they can even teach you to knit or crochet and have supplies that you can use. Over 500 shawls have been donated since this ministry started.

Baby Bundles
Dates: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month

Description: Makes baby quilts and scent dolls for NICU patients at Aultman hospital, Pregnancy Choices, Canton Calvary Mission, and for children being baptized at our church. No experience needed, and all supplies are provided. In 2016 this group made 48 baby quilts and 181 scent dolls.

Description: The death of a spouse is difficult. In addition to missing your closest friend, you may also feel isolated. Knowing you’re not alone and that what you are feeling is normal by listening to the stories of others can help. Having a group to listen and socialize with will enable you to have hope and to foster new relationships.
